Iranian Speaker, Kuwaiti, Omani Counterparts Discuss Coronavirus Fight

Iranian Speaker, Kuwaiti, Omani Counterparts Discuss Coronavirus FightLarijani held separate telephone conversations with Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq al-Ghanim and Chairman of Consultative Assembly of Oman Khalid Al Maawali to discuss a host of topics, including ways to combat the coronavirus.

Larijani explained the Islamic Republic’s measures to fight the disease and said closer cooperation between Iran and the two countries and the exchange of experiences can help contain the epidemic.

Ghanim, for his part, voiced Kuwait’s readiness to fight COVID-19 and said extensive cooperation among neighboring countries can facilitate the eradication of the virus.

Maawali also stressed the need to boost cooperation between Oman and Iraq in various areas, including the campaign against the infectious disease.

In remarks on Monday, the Iranian Health Ministry’s public relations director, Kianoush Jahanpour, said that so far, 2,394 patients with the coronavirus have recovered.

The health official further said the death toll from the new coronavirus epidemic in the country has risen to 237.

Medical staffs in all 31 provinces of Iran have been working tirelessly over the past weeks to contain the novel coronavirus.

First detected in Wuhan city in central China in December, the virus has spread to more than 100 countries.

The global death toll is around 3,800 with more than 100,000 confirmed cases, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
