TEHRAN (defapress) - Armenia has officially recognized a Palestinian state, the Armenian foreign ministry said on Friday, the latest country to do so despite opposition from Israel.
Armenia supports a United Nations resolution on an immediate ceasefire in Israel's war with Hamas in Gaza and is in favor of a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, a ministry statement said.
Hamas also announced in a statement that we welcome Armenia's action in recognizing the Palestinian state and consider it an important step in the direction of establishing global recognition of the rights of the Palestinian nation and the ideals and demands of this nation in the context of the end of the Nazi-Zionist occupation in this land and forming an independent state of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.
