TEHRAN (Defapress) - On Monday night, Issa Kameli, Iran’s Foreign Minister's Assistant and the Director-General of the Ministry's Department of the Americas, denied the accusation made by a Canadian media outlet regarding Iran's supposed attempt to murder a Canadian individual.

Kameli criticized the report as a ridiculous propaganda ploy that aligns with the effort to disseminate misinformation about Iran.

He vehemently criticized the accusation against Iran, stating that the unfounded claim originates from a nation that harbors terrorists and criminals.

The Iranian official also stated that unsubstantiated allegations against Iran will not distract the world from the crimes committed by Israel, such as the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, and Canada's involvement as a major supporter of the occupying government.

The response came after Canadian officials claimed they stopped a purported Iranian scheme to kill Irwin Cotler, a former justice minister and human rights advocate known for his vocal opposition to Tehran.

According to a report from Canadian media, two suspects involved in the plot were being monitored by authorities, but their identities were not revealed.

Canada and several Western nations, along with their media platforms, have a history of spreading misinformation about Iran to distract from their wrongdoing and human rights abuses.
