Creating a Powerful Region Is Possible Through Regional Cooperation

TEHRAN (Defapress) - Today, in a meeting with Hikmat Hajiyev, Seyyed Kamal Kharrazi expressed hope for the expansion of Tehran-Baku relations and said: We believe that the countries of the Caucasus region have sufficient maturity to defend their territory, and experience shown that the presence of foreign forces in a country does not necessarily prevent aggression against that country, and we welcome the fact that the Republic of Azerbaijan is opposed to the establishment of foreign bases in this country.

He also welcomed the peace talks between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia and stated: We hope that these talks will lead to the establishment of complete peace between the 2 countries and that the necessary cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, Russia, and Turkey will be realized to elevate the Caucasus.

The Chairman of the Strategic Council for Foreign Relations, emphasizing that regional cooperation can create a powerful region, stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran's policy is regional cooperation despite the differences in its government system.

Kharrazi, stating that of course, countries should pay attention to the sensitivity of their neighbors, expressed concern about the presence of the Zionist regime in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Chairman of the Strategic Council for Foreign Relations mentioned the richness of cultural commonalities as a strong point in the development of relations between the two countries and said: Based on this rich culture, relations can be enriched and minor differences should not hinder the development of relations between the two countries.

Hekmat Hajiyev, also stated that there is a historic opportunity to deepen relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, stated that Baku is ready to cooperate with Tehran in the development of north-south transportation routes as well as the Aqband-Kalalah route for connection with the Nakhchivan.
