TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al-Mayadeen, Hezbollah issued a statement declaring: The popular sit-in organized by Hezbollah yesterday against the blatant interference of the Zionist regime in Lebanon's internal affairs is considered a peaceful action.
The statement further added: The protesters were surprised by the firing of tear gas by some Lebanese army forces. This move is a disgraceful act and an unjustifiable aggression against citizens who peacefully expressed their protest. It is also a suspicious attempt to push the army into confrontation with Lebanese citizens.
The statement emphasized: We call on the Lebanese army command to immediately launch an investigation into this unacceptable attack and take the necessary measures to protect the role of this military institution in supporting internal stability.
Hezbollah continued: We call on the Lebanese government to fulfill its duties in supporting protesters and the right to freedom of expression. We also call on the Lebanese government to reconsider its decisions to prevent Iranian planes from landing at Beirut Airport and take serious measures to prevent the Zionist regime's interference in the country's internal affairs.
Hezbollah also firmly condemned the attack on UN forces near Rafic Hariri Airport.
