TEHRAN (Defapress) - Wolfgang Amadeus Brülhart, Switzerland's Special Representative for the Middle East and North Africa, met with Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat.
During the meeting, Araghchi highlighted the long-standing and positive history of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries and expressed appreciation for Switzerland's efforts as the protecting power of the United States. He emphasized the constructive role of Switzerland in helping to strengthen peace and stability in the region.
Welcoming the upcoming session of political consultations between the 2 countries in Tehran, Araghchi stressed, "We emphasize the continuation of dialogue and cooperation between the two countries in this regard."
The Deputy Foreign Minister also referred to the 3 rounds of negotiations between Iran and the three European countries and Iran's readiness to continue them, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not accept the language of threat and pressure, and the policy of maximum pressure will undoubtedly fail.
The Swiss Special Representative, in turn, provided a report on his country's efforts to establish global peace and stability and underscored Iran's significant and influential role in the region.
Wolfgang Amadeus Brülhart also emphasized the importance of continuing bilateral dialogues with Iran on various bilateral and regional issues and expressed his willingness and readiness to sustain bilateral talks and consultations, including during the upcoming session of consultations between the two countries in Tehran.
During the meeting, the 2 sides exchanged views on some issues of mutual interest in the regional and international arenas.
