TEHRAN (Defapress) - May 25th each year is celebrated in Lebanon as the day to honor the defeat of the Zionist regime against Lebanon's Hezbollah and the end of occupation in southern Lebanon. Of course, this significant and memorable day holds high importance and status not only in Lebanon's calendar of events but also for the Axis of Resistance.

Eid of Resistance and Liberation; End of the Myth of the Zionist Regime's Invincibility

If we want to discuss and examine the causes, factors, and contexts of the Zionist regime's extensive attack on southern Lebanon, we must first address the history of relations and confrontations between this illegitimate occupying regime and Lebanon. Accordingly, we must say that after the events known as Black September in 1970, the Zionist regime pursued the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

However, after the PLO forces, which at that time were operating as the most important Palestinian Resistance force against the Israeli army, decided to leave Jordan and move their forces to the two countries of Tunisia and Lebanon, the Zionist regime sought to create a security belt to prevent Palestinian forces from infiltrating the northern occupied territories.

Accordingly, we witnessed the beginning of sporadic clashes during the 1970s between Palestinian combat forces and the Zionist regime's army. These clashes led the occupying regime to move towards a major attack on southern Lebanon. Ultimately, we witnessed the extensive military attack by the Israeli army on southern Lebanon, which caused significant damage to Lebanon.

In June 1982, the Zionist regime launched a major attack and occupied significant parts of southern Lebanon. This military aggression, according to reports and received information, had Mossad playing the primary role in finalizing and executing this extensive military attack. Moreover, the overt and covert connections of Mossad elements with parts of Lebanon's Maronite body had also prepared the ground for this extensive military attack.

In fact, we must point out this very important and sensitive issue that the Zionist regime had decided to expel the "Palestine Liberation Organization" as well as Syrian combat forces from southern Lebanon through this major military attack, to secure the occupied Palestinian territories and Zionist settlements.

But this was not the end of the story. The popular Resistance in Lebanon, along with other Lebanese combat groups, including Lebanon's Hezbollah, through worthy and exemplary Resistance and steadfastness, was able to maintain the spirit of struggle and Resistance and prepared the grounds for expelling the occupying forces of the Zionist regime's army from southern Lebanon. An issue that became the first defeat and retreat of the Zionist army.

Of course, Lebanon's victory over the Zionist war machine, aggressor and occupier had many significant consequences, among which we can mention "strengthening national morale" in Lebanon and "establishing Lebanon's Resistance as a political power." In the field of "strengthening national morale," it must be said that this victory increased national pride and self-confidence among the Lebanese people and showed that even against major military powers, victory can be achieved through Resistance and unity.

In the field of "establishing Lebanon's Resistance as a political power," we must also say that Lebanon's Hezbollah and other Resistance groups, through this victory, solidified their political and social position in Lebanon and among its people and were able to play a prominent role in Lebanon's politics.

Another very important point is that the Zionist regime's defeat in southern Lebanon became a model for Resistance in other countries of the region and showed that occupation is not sustainable and can be challenged by the will of nations. Moreover, the Resistance and steadfastness of free nations and people like Lebanon and Palestine can lead to the expulsion of Zionist occupiers from the occupied territories.

Finally, May 25th in Lebanon is far more than a national celebration. This victory is a symbol of the will of the Resistance and the victory of the Lebanese nation over the Zionist occupying regime. Moreover, the popular Resistance in Lebanon, as well as Lebanon's Hezbollah, clearly demonstrated that people and Resistance, through their unity and solidarity, can succeed and prevail against occupiers and shape their independence and freedom.
