TEHRAN (Defapress) - Media, in general, play a central role in shaping the mindset of nations and directing public opinion, particularly in international conflicts. In this regard, Western media, when covering the events in Gaza, attempt to steer public opinion in favor of the occupying Zionist regime. These media outlets often disregard Palestinian victims and seek to marginalize their voices of oppression.
Western media are not only complicit in concealing facts and distorting the truth in a vile manner to serve the occupying regime, but they also aim to mislead public opinion. Moreover, based on premeditated agendas, they strive to reinforce the Zionist regime’s presence in the region and legitimize it despite its countless crimes against women and children.
Instead of presenting the facts, these media outlets use misleading terms such as "conflict" instead of "crime" or "terrorism" instead of "resistance", double standards that Palestinian and Arab activists have long criticized on social media. This biased coverage paints an unjust and one-sided image of Israel, portraying it as a representative of peace and stability while depicting Palestinians as the enemy.
The reality is that, over the years, the Zionist regime, backed by Western media, has committed widespread atrocities, including attacks on medical infrastructure and hospitals in Gaza, a clear testament to its moral depravity. While some Israeli officials openly advocate for increased violence, there is a deafening silence from Arab media and institutions in the face of these crimes.
Furthermore, some Arab countries have contributed to the perpetuation of the current situation through their silence or political cooperation, prioritizing short-term interests over supporting the Palestinian people and the resistance front. In such circumstances, the Arab media front has also retreated into the shadows instead of standing with Palestine and mobilizing public opinion toward protest and resistance.
Countering this media bias requires the establishment of a strong, independent media discourse that conveys the true narrative of Palestine humanely and truthfully. It is also essential for activists in Western countries to mobilize and pressure major media outlets to rectify these dual and unjust narratives. Only through such efforts can the monopoly over the narrative of war and violence be broken, allowing the authentic voice of the oppressed Palestinians to reach the world.
