Second Round of the Iraqi Parliamentary Elections Began with the Participation of the People

The sixth round of the Iraqi parliamentary elections, which is being held today, is being held completely electronically.

According to official information from the Iraqi Supreme Election Commission, all stages of the voting (from registering voters' fingerprints to registering and counting votes) are being carried out in an integrated electronic system.

It is not possible to extend the voting time, because the machines are automatically disconnected at the announced time (6 pm local time). This measure aims to prevent fraud and speed up the announcement of results.

The first round of the elections on Sunday was held exclusively for forces that cannot vote normally, such as the armed forces.

The head of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq announced that the turnout in the special voting for the Iraqi elections was 82 percent.

In the Iraqi parliamentary elections, 7,768 candidates will begin their competition to win seats in the parliament.

According to the report, 5,520 of these candidates are men and 2,248 of them are women.

Also, 21 million Iraqis are eligible to participate in the elections and determine the owners of 329 seats in the parliament.
