Iran Declares Canadian Navy a Terrorist Organization

TEHRAN (Defapress) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated the retaliatory action in response to the illegal decision of the Canadian government on June 19, 2024.

The statement states: The Government of Canada has declared the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is considered one of the official organs of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a terrorist entity, contrary to the fundamental principles of international law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs further announced: Based on the principle of reciprocity and based on Article 7 of the Retaliatory Action Act against the Declaration of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a Terrorist Organization by the United States of America, enacted in 2019, the Islamic Republic of Iran will retaliate against this action by the Government of Canada.

The statement states: In accordance with the provisions of Article 7 of this law, all countries that in any way comply with or support the decision of the United States of America to declare the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization will be subject to reciprocal action by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced: Accordingly, the Royal Canadian Navy is recognized as subject to the aforementioned law and its provisions and, within the framework of reciprocal action, is identified and declared as a terrorist organization.

At the end of the statement, it is emphasized that responsibility for the legal and political consequences of this action will lie with the Canadian government, which has chosen the path of confrontation and tension by ignoring the established rules of international law.
