Deployment of Popular Mobilization Forces Near the Syrian Border

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al-Maalouma, a security source in Anbar province announced that the military equipment of the Popular Mobilization Forces has been deployed in the border strip between Syria and the west of the province.

He added: This measure is aimed at preventing the infiltration of terrorist elements from deep inside Syria into the western regions of Iraq, and an attempt has been made to eliminate all security gaps.

This Iraqi source added: Terrorist elements have been deployed in areas close to the common border strip between Iraq and Syria, and we are witnessing an intensification of armed conflicts in Syria.

Earlier, Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari emphasized: This country monitors developments in Syria daily and expected these developments three years ago.

He added: We have strengthened our border fortifications, especially in positions near the common borders with Syria. A trench measuring 620 kilometers has also been dug in the border areas.

These words of the Iraqi Interior Minister come after hundreds of ISIS members escaped from Syrian prisons following armed clashes between elements of the Golani regime and SDF forces.
