European Union's Action Against the IRGC Is a Big Mistake

TEHRAN (Defapress) - At a press conference with media members, spokesperson for the Islamic Republic of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, congratulated the arrival of the Fajr decade and stated: "In the past week, we witnessed the continuation of America's inflammatory actions in the region." We also witnessed the escalation of the crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon and Gaza this week.

Baghaei added: We witnessed one of the most severe movements of the Zionist regime after the ceasefire in the past days, with the regime's attacks on the people of Gaza and the martyrdom of more than 30 people.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman continued: In the past week, the Zionist regime carried out severe attacks on southern Lebanon and caused extensive damage and losses to the country's infrastructure.

He noted: Summoning ambassadors is a minimal task. Yesterday and today, all EU member states were summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and further measures are being considered. In the coming days, we will make decisions about Iran's actions against the EU.

Baghaei added: The EU made a big mistake and labeled people who played an important role in the fight against terrorism in the region. We should express our condolences to the people of Europe, whose leaders committed such actions. This action by the EU was an insult to Iran and a strategic mistake.

Regarding media reports about Trump's readiness for negotiations and US threats against Iran, he clarified: It is natural that we have previous experiences before our eyes. Over the past 10 years, we have had repeated experiences of America's breach of promise, reneging on promises, and deceit, and its peak occurred in June, and we certainly did not gain this experience cheaply. There is a contradiction in behavior and speech.

Baghaei added in another part of his speech: The statement that threats are not compatible with diplomacy is true. What the US is doing is a continuous violation of international principles. If the principle of prohibition of the use of force is one of the principles, these principles are constantly being violated by the US. This discussion should always be considered.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman continued: Iran has shown that it is steadfast in its diplomatic approach to advancing national interests and preserving peace and security in the region, and we have proven this to this day. We are currently examining the structure of the negotiations.

He noted: The countries of the region, which are concerned about establishing and expanding peace and stability in the region, are sincerely trying to play a positive role. Various points have been exchanged, and we are examining the details.

Regarding the publication of new documents from Jeffrey Epstein and the relationship between the publication of these documents and the negotiations with Iran, Baqai said: We cannot give an official opinion on this issue. There has been a lot of news in the media about the connection of many politicians to this case. There has been much discussion about the fact that this issue and information have been misused by some circles, including the Zionist regime, to guide some politicians.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman added: I am not in a position to deny or confirm, but it is an important issue that is being raised. The Zionist regime has repeatedly misused such information to influence American and European politicians.

He continued: Lifting sanctions is definitely a key priority. Recently, Iran's Foreign Minister, Mr. Araghchi, emphasized that the nuclear issue is an excuse that has been misused for years to impose war on Iran. Also, in exchange for building trust about the nature of Iran’s nuclear program, our demand is, of course, the lifting of the oppressive sanctions.

In response to the statements of the Saudi Defense Minister in a meeting with American officials, Baqaei noted: We have also seen this news report in the media, but we must note that Iran and Saudi Arabia are two Muslim countries. We have always had a positive point of view towards our brothers in the region, and we believe that the countries of the region are well aware that any insecurity in the region has contagious effects and consequences. Accordingly, we see that the countries of the region are trying, and this is the consensus on the dangers associated with adventurism against Iran.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman added: All countries must be prepared. Because media abuse has always been a real issue. We do not believe in making excuses for the media's reporting on the position of countries.

He stated: We are always in close contact with Saudi Arabia. Accordingly, last night, a good and useful contact was made between the Foreign Minister and his Saudi counterpart, and there are contacts.
