TEHRAN (Defapress) - In response to the European Parliament's call to facilitate the return of Armenians to the Karabakh region, the release of Armenian prisoners, and the protection of Armenian cultural heritage, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry summoned the EU Ambassador to Baku, Marijana Kujundzic.

Tensions in Baku-Brussels Relations

The Azerbaijani Parliament then severed all relations with the EU and noted in a statement: The European Parliament does not want a constructive and open dialogue with Azerbaijan and adopts a destructive position.

The statement adds: The European Parliament ignores the norms of international law and justice in its activities. This institution has remained indifferent to Armenia's 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani territory, the destruction of cities and cultural heritage, ethnic cleansing, and the displacement of more than a million people. Within this framework, the Azerbaijani parliament is determined to stop cooperation with the European Parliament in all areas, end its activities in the EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, and terminate its membership in the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.
