Mideast chaos plot to sow discord
The Syrian ambassador to the United Nations Bashar al-Ja'afari says the chaos in the Middle East is aimed at pitting Muslims against each other.
Ja’afari made the remark in an exclusive interview with Press TV, during which he also said that ISIL terrorists and other militants are boosting their operations in the region.
Ja’afari added that the Syrian government was fighting terrorism and favored national reconciliation to tackle the crisis that has gripped the country for more than three years.
According to some sources, over 160,000 people have been killed and millions of others displaced due to the turmoil fueled by the foreign-backed militants.
The Western powers and their regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey - are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
