Turkish Troops Deploy 1 km Away from Kurdish-Held Afrin in Northern Syria

TEHRAN (defapress)- The Turkish Army troops and Ankara-backed militants occupied over ten Kurdish-held regions within the framework of Operation Olive Branch in Afrin district and deployed forces only one kilometer away from the town of Afrin, militant-affiliated field sources said Sunday.

Turkish Troops Deploy 1 km Away from Kurdish-Held Afrin in Northern SyriaThe sources said that the Ankara-backed militants clashed fiercely with the Kurdish fighters in Jandaris region West of Afrin and captured the village of Kafr Zita and a military base near it and the two villages of Zalaqa and Ka'an Korak.

Also, the forces of Operation Olive Branch captured the villages of Qort Qolay Saqir, Qort Qolay Kabir, Kafr Rom, al-Khalediyeh, Qara Tapa, Qastal Kashk and Qibar base in Sheran region and the villages of Houran and al-Tafla in Bolbol region and the village of Jalbal East of Afrin, the sources said, adding that the Turkish troops and their allied militants have deployed only one kilometer away from the town of Afrin.   

In a relevant development on Saturday the Turkish forces and allied militants captured the villages of Ma'arastah, Shavaraqa al-Joz, Kafr Maz and Malekiyeh in Sheran region that is considered as that Eastern gate to the town of Afrin.

Local sources said that the Ankara-backed militants pushed the Kurds back from the village of Shoura'eil in Bolbol region and from the villages of Mariman and Anab and their Western mountain.

In the meantime, the Turkish troops and their allied militants managed to capture the village of Halobi Kabir and Dam 17th April near the town of Sheran, the sources said, reminding that the dam supplies water to Afrin.

The sources added that the Turkish army and militants have deployed only 2 km away from the Central part of the town of Afrin after their recent advances.
