Syrian Army Tightens Noose on ISIL in Southern DamascusTEHRAN (Defapress)- The army men stormed ISIL's strongholds in the Northern part of Hajar al-Aswad region and managed to impose full control over more points after inflicting major casualties on the terrorists.

Fierce clashes between terrorists and government forces are underway in al-Zobeir region.

Also, the army's artillery and missile units and aircraft pounded the positions and movements of the remaining pockets of terrorists in Hajar al-Aswad, Yarmouk Camp and al-Tazamon district, destroying several vehicles.

Local sources said that terrorists' combat and defense capabilities have mainly weakened as their supply lines connecting North of Hajar al-Aswad to Yarmouk have been cut off due to the recent advances of the army in the region.

Field sources reported on Friday that the army troops uncovered one of the largest tunnels dug by terrorists in Syria in their mop-up operation inside the town of Hajar Al-Aswad,

The sources said that the tunnel was uncovered by the army men inside the Madaniyah district in Hajar al-Aswad region in the Southern part of Damascus province .

The tunnel is known as the “The Gate of the Two Ghoutas as it was built to link Eastern Ghouta to Western Ghouta.

The tunnel itself is nearly 1 km long and goes under the Damascus-Dara’a Highway.

Despite constructing most of the tunnel, they were never able to finish the project because they eventually lost Darayya and other West Ghouta towns.
