During a visit to an airbase on Tuesday, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani was briefed on the process of flight testing of Yasin.
The minister said the jet trainer can be utilized in close air support operations by carrying various optical and thermal guided weapons.
The military aviators receiving training with Yasin will be able to pilot the new generation of fighter jets, he added, noting that the Iranian jet trainer will shorten the length and improve the quality of training courses.
In March, the Defense Ministry unveiled the standard version of Yasin jet trainer and the assembly line for mass producing the aircraft.
The Iranian jet trainer has been furnished with a homegrown ejection seat, avionics, engine, and landing gear.
The airborne weather radar installed on its radome has been manufactured by domestic knowledge-based companies.
