TEHRAN (Defapress) – The Zionist forces' attack against UNIFIL wasn't something new. Before that, on May 29, 2024, the Israeli Parliament tried to designate the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) as a terrorist organization. With that excuse, they let themselves attack their bases and members without mercy. It seems that they are intertwined with trampling the peacekeeper organizations. Now it's UNIFIL time to be targeted by them.
UNIFIL, which involves about 9,500 troops of some 50 nationalities, is tasked with monitoring a ceasefire, settled on the border of Lebanon and Israel after a 33-day war in 2006.
But the Zionist forces have targeted the UNIFIL forces and till now, 4 members have been injured. Even the UNIFIL speaker said that they were intentionally being targeted by IOF. The Israeli forces are using them as their human shields and hiding their armored tanks in the Ireland base of UNIFIL on the border of Lebanon and Israel.
In a joint statement on October 12, 2024, 40 countries contributing troops to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) condemned ongoing attacks on peacekeepers and called on all to respect the UNIFIL’s mission and ensure the safety of its personnel. They added that they strongly condemn recent attacks on the peacekeepers.
That was just the tip of this fake regime's acts against humanity. Every day and night, since October 7, 2023, the occupier regime martyred more than 42,000 and almost 97,000 wounded. Even it's estimated that nearly 60% of buildings in the enclave have been damaged or destroyed, according to satellite data analysis by Corey Scher of the City University of New York's Graduate Center and Jamon Van Den Hoek of Oregon State University.
Also, the Zionist regime has brutally martyred more than 2000 people and injured more than 10,000 civilians just based on wrong expectations about the presence of Hezbollah forces under Dayieh of Beirut's buildings.
Even the Syndicate of Chemists in Lebanon (SCL) warned Sunday that the scale of destruction and the depth of damage to buildings and said that the extent of destruction and the penetration of buildings and ground by dozens of meters is evidence of the use of bombs containing depleted uranium, which has tremendous penetrating power. In other words, Israel is using internationally prohibited bombs in Lebanon. That’s another sign of stepping on human rights.
Hence, based on the evidence, condemning the Zionist regime in the statements is not enough, stopping selling weapons to the brutal regime and also taking serious steps is essential to stop this beast of the region.
