Activation of the Snapback Does Not Affect Iran's Economic Issues and Oil Sales

Sadr al-Husseini said: "Given that the volume, depth, and severity of the existing resolutions, collectively known as 2231, are no more than these hundreds of American sanctions, and that they do not mention anything about economic, banking, financial issues, or oil sales for Iran, and that their emphasis is more on nuclear and missile issues, it will definitely have no effect on these 2 issues."

TEHRAN (Defapress) - Seyed Reza Sadr Al-Husseini, an expert on West Asian affairs, in an interview with the Defapress correspondent regarding the decision of three European countries to activate the snapback mechanism of sanctions against Iran at the UN Security Council meeting, stated: "As of last evening, the snapback issue, based on what was in the JCPOA and they claimed that no such issue exists in the JCPOA, and about a month ago when the European Troika raised the snapback issue, they announced that they were unaware of this issue and mentioned the name of an unknown and unfamiliar individual named 'Francesco' in the snapback within the JCPOA, will eventually be operationalized after the voting at the United Nations Security Council."

Activation of the Mechanism Does Not Affect Economic Issues and Iranian Oil Sales

Sadr Al-Husseini added: "In this matter, 4 countries, China, Russia, Pakistan, and Algeria, voted against. The three European Troika countries, the UK, France, and Germany, alongside the United States, Denmark, Greece, and several other countries, totaling 9 countries, voted in favor, and 2 countries abstained."

The expert on West Asian affairs continued: "In reality, it once again became clear that what the European Troika believed, that with the help and support of the Americans, they could create conditions for the Iranian nation to abandon their anti-colonial, anti-imperialist, and anti-arrogance movements under economic and psychological pressure, has failed."

He noted: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in this regard, tried with all its might to use diplomatic tools to prevent this action, and even in Cairo, through a very suitable agreement while preserving the national interests of the Islamic Republic, reached a conclusion with the International Atomic Energy Agency to somehow delay the snapback or render it obsolete. However, the European countries, at the behest of America and to please Trump and Rubio, did not allow this diplomacy of the Islamic Republic to succeed."

Sadr Al-Husseini added: "In fact, Europe's inaction after America's withdrawal from the JCPOA continues to strengthen U.S. sanctions and unilateralism, and it seems that the Europeans, through their media programs, television interviews, and statements, will try to exert additional pressure on the spirit, psyche, and nerves of the Iranian people."

The expert on West Asian affairs stated: "We must note that the actions of President Pezeshkian from the beginning of his entry into the scene and his assumption of the presidency have been aimed, through his rhetoric and some of his actions, both directly and through the foreign policy apparatus, at creating conditions to portray a peace-loving, wise, and internationally law-abiding image to the world. During this time, all state facilities, including the media, have moved in the same direction so that perhaps the 3 European countries would change their view on the snapback and not create conditions for the implementation of UN resolutions against the Iranian nation."

He further stated: "First, we must know that what the Americans did after tearing up and withdrawing from the JCPOA is hundreds of times heavier than what is in the five UN Security Council resolutions. That is, the Iranian nation and various government and non-government agencies have significantly learned how to bypass the very intense and extensive American sanctions in economic, trade, financial, banking, and port areas."

Sadr Al-Husseini added: "Given that the volume, depth, and weight of the existing resolutions, collectively known as 2231, are no more than these hundreds of American sanctions, and they say nothing about economic, banking, financial issues, or oil sales for Iran, and their emphasis is more on nuclear and missile issues, they will certainly and undoubtedly have no effect on these two issues either."

The expert on West Asian affairs continued: "We must note that what exists regarding Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter and in one of these resolutions is that the current conditions of the world, the United Nations, and the Islamic Republic are not such that this Chapter VII can be implemented. Of course, we must note that certainly the enemy's psychological, media, and psychological operation pressure will undoubtedly be more on this part than on other parts."

He noted: "It is important that the government and executive agencies, from past days when some news and information, such as Emmanuel Macron's interview with an Israeli media outlet, almost made it clear that the snapback issue would be implemented, and they hastily and rushed, without considering the various aspects of diplomacy and the conditions that might arise hereafter, declared the snapback definite, and Macron also referred to it in this interview, have increased their preparedness in various areas and are trying to control the tensions and psychological challenges that will spread to the economy and market by controlling the market, foreign currency, and gold, as much as possible, and not allow abuses of the arisen conditions to significantly pressure the people of the country, especially the weak strata."

Sadr Al-Husseini added: "But the reality is that certainly in the coming days, the enemy's efforts to create turmoil in the market and the country's economy will increase. However, we must note that two countries, Russia and China, along with Pakistan and Algeria, voted against this resolution. Russia and China have officially declared that they consider the previous UN resolutions against Iran invalid, stating that these resolutions will not have legitimacy for them and will not be adhered to. Of course, given the conditions in the international system and Trump's hostile view of China, significant cooperation with Russia in this regard will occur."

The expert on West Asian affairs stated: "Of course, more important than all these issues is the people's ability to prevent potential economic tensions, which can create significant immunity for the Islamic Republic. Certainly, the demand regarding increasing government actions in attention to the weak strata and fixed salary earners is another important issue that can be effective in creating economic tranquility and preventing abuses and criminals in the economic sphere who are waiting to illegitimately and inhumanely benefit from the arisen conditions and exploit the people's blood."
