UNIFIL Expresses Concern Over Israeli Attacks on UN Forces

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al-Akhbar, a spokesman for the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced that the activities of these forces are facing many dangers, but they are taking strict security measures to protect their lives.

He added: "We witnessed mortars hitting within five meters of UNIFIL forces. These forces were on their normal patrol. The Israeli army should be reminded to adhere to protecting the lives of UNIFIL forces."

The UNIFIL spokesman stated that the Israeli attacks on these forces have become worrying.

Earlier, UNIFIL announced that an Israeli Merkava tank fired at these forces near a place created by Tel Aviv inside Lebanese territory.

The UNIFIL statement said that the incident caused the peacekeepers to take refuge in a safe location to stay safe, and after the Israeli tank retreated, the forces were able to leave the area.
