TEHRAN (Defapress) - A video from the southern Lebanese town of Mays al-Jabal has drawn the attention of media and security observers to an incident that is considered more than just a routine field incident.

UNIFIL Jams Israeli Drones

The video, released by Lebanese sources on Monday evening, shows UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) jamming an Israeli drone, a move that is in stark contrast to the international force’s well-known practice of restraint.

Al-Mayadeen reported that the Israeli drone was flying at low altitude over the main square of Mays al-Jabal, where a joint French-Nepalese UNIFIL patrol was taking place.

According to the report, international forces, after stopping in the city square, attempted to jam the drone’s control systems.

This action occurred while UNIFIL, in response to repeated violations of Lebanese airspace by Israeli drones and fighter jets, had mainly limited itself to recording violations and sending reports to the United Nations in recent years.

At the same time, Al-Manar TV also reported the discovery of an Israeli drone in the town of Rab El Thalathine. Although there has been no official confirmation of the connection between the two incidents, their coincidence has increased the sensitivity of the airspace in southern Lebanon.
