We Are Ready to Protect Peace and Stability in Latin America

TEHRAN (Defapress) - The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Mao Ning, announced today (Tuesday) that Beijing is ready to protect peace and stability in Latin America.

Mao said during a press conference at the ministry: "China resolutely supports the Venezuelan government and people in safeguarding their sovereignty, security, rights, and legitimate interests."

According to the Sputnik news agency, he explained in this regard: "China is ready to cooperate with regional countries and the international community to jointly safeguard peace and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean."

The Chinese diplomat further stated that the United States has undermined the stability of international relations by kidnapping Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

According to the report, Mao continued: “The United States ignored Maduro’s position as head of state, blatantly covered up, held a so-called trial in its own domestic court, and seriously violated Venezuela’s national sovereignty and undermined the stability of international relations. No country can put its own laws above international laws.”

She then called for the immediate release of Maduro and his wife from US captivity and for their personal safety to be guaranteed.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that no country can claim to be an international judge, adding that all countries must abide by international law and the fundamental purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter.
