TEHRAN (Defapress) - The spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun, criticized the US position at a press conference on Monday, saying that China has repeatedly stated its position on Greenland.

Guo Jiakun said that “international laws based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter are the foundation of the existing international order and must be respected.”
He made the remarks in response to a question about Donald Trump's recent announcement. The US president warned of the possibility of China and Russia taking over Greenland and criticized European allies' opposition to Washington's takeover of the island.
Trump also announced that the United States would impose a 10 percent tariff on goods from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland starting February 1, and would increase this tax to 25 percent starting June 1, unless a deal is reached for the United States to purchase Greenland.
