Russian Oil Embargo Policy Fails

A former Indian government official assessed the temporary suspension of Russian oil sanctions after the disruption of ships' passage through the Strait of Hormuz as a failure of Washington's sanctions policy against Moscow.

TEHRAN (Defapress) - "The United States has not been able to force India and other countries of the world to stop importing Russian oil," Kanwal Sibal, India's former First Deputy Foreign Minister, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"The weakening of sanctions against Moscow's oil in March showed the ineffectiveness of this American policy," he added.

After the disruption of tankers' passage through the Strait of Hormuz as a result of the regional war with Iran, the US government temporarily suspended sanctions on Iranian oil and also sanctions on India's oil imports from Russia.
