According to the report, the three countries stressed the need for diplomatic engagement between Washington and Havana.

The statement comes a day after a US diplomatic delegation recently met with Cuban officials in Havana.

The meeting, which follows the US administration's first direct consultations with Cuba since 2016, is part of a "new diplomatic pressure" aimed at bringing about fundamental changes in Cuba's economy and governance.

The AP reported that the meeting, which was attended by a senior State Department official and Raul Guillermo Rodríguez Castro (grandson of former Cuban leader Raúl Castro), was a sign of Washington's "new diplomatic pressure" on Havana, according to a US State Department official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The official stressed that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was not part of the delegation.
