Brazilian President Appreciates Spain's Opposition to Attacking Iran

He said on Saturday during his visit to Spain: "I would like to express my gratitude and admiration for Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's courage."

Lula da Silva added: "Spain did not allow American planes to take off from this country to bomb Iran."

Brazil and Spain had previously called for a halt to military operations in the Middle East and for peaceful solutions to be reached through negotiations.

Spain's opposition to the use of its territory and military bases to conduct operations against Iran has caused tension between the Madrid government and Washington, with US President Donald Trump strongly criticizing Spain's failure to accompany American forces.
