We Will Only Hand Over the Weapons of the Resistance to Imam Mahdi
TEHRAN (Defapress) - Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, a representative of Al-Nujaba in Iran, said: The discussion of 'delivering weapons' in Iraq will be accurate and realistic when we distinguish between the different types of armed forces in this country. The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) was formed in 2014 following the spread of the ISIS threat and became one of the most important field forces in the war against this group. After that, the Iraqi government recognized this group as part of the country’s official security structure.

The PMF, with its military structure and numerous brigades, operates under the supervision of the General Command of the Armed Forces and is legally part of the country’s official security force. Therefore, any plan for disarmament should be aimed at groups that operate outside the state structure or use weapons for personal purposes, tribal conflicts, and insecurity-causing actions, not the official defense forces that play the role of deterrent against external threats and terrorism. The disciplined Resistance weapon has always been within the framework of defending national security, under supervision, and should not be equated with illegal weapons outside the sovereignty.
In this regard, the Defapress correspondent had a conversation with Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, the representative of the Secretary General of the Al-Nujaba Movement in Iran, the details of which are reported below:
The representative of the Secretary General of the Al-Nujaba Movement in Iran said at the beginning of his speech: “Certainly, restricting weapons to the hands of the state is a logical demand, but its implementation has conditions. The state must have full capacity to protect the land, sky, and sea of Iraq and repel major threats such as the United States, the Zionist regime, and ISIS; however, today this capacity does not exist. If the Resistance surrenders its weapons, sacred places will be desecrated, innocents will be killed, and Iraq will once again become a pasture for the enemy.”
Mousavi continued: “The weapons surrender project is an American-Zionist plan that they themselves have openly demanded, and unfortunately, the Iraqi government has agreed to it under pressure.”
According to him, the “sacred and disciplined weapon of the Resistance” is a trust that has been and will be used only against the occupiers, terrorists, and ISIS, and its true owner is Imam Mahdi (a.s.); while the undisciplined weapon is the same weapon that is used for tribal conflicts, banditry, assassination of personalities, and insecurity in society, and the authority has also emphasized its collection for years.
The representative of the Secretary General of Al-Nujaba added: “Instead of creating stability, surrendering weapons is the gateway to the fall of Iraq. We are at a crucial stage, and an existential war, and abandoning the Resistance in these circumstances is a great betrayal of religion, sect, and humanity.”
Mousavi also explained the difference of opinion with some Iraqi currents: “We adhere to unity and brotherhood, although there are differences of opinion. Some groups consider the arms embargo to be expedient, but we believe that continuing the Resistance is necessary. If there were no Resistance, the Iraqi government would collapse in the face of the threat of ISIS and the forces of evil.”
He emphasized: The pressure for disarmament is aimed at turning Iraq into a safe base for the United States and a place to target Iran. Some domestic politicians are pursuing this project for personal interests, and this behavior is a shameful stain that will not be erased.
Mousavi concluded: “We will only hand over our sacred weapon to its legitimate owner. If anyone wants to forcibly reach out to this weapon, our response will be clear in the open field. "This weapon is the fortress of the nation, and if the enemies can disarm the Resistance today, tomorrow they will crush the Iraqi nation. We are steadfast in this promise forever."
