Iran Navy flotilla to set sail for Russian portIran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari told the media on Friday that a flotilla of Iranian warships will depart for Makhachkala port of Russia and will berth at the Russian port after 48 hours.

"Sending the message of peace and friendship, enhancing maritime etiquette of the two states, and furthering cooperation on establishment of security in the region of the Caspian Sea are the main objectives of this journey,” asserted the Iranian commander.

"This flotilla will return to Iran within three days following a pre-planned program,” said Mr. Sayyari, "the flotilla returns after holding joint war games with Russian Navy, exchanging experience, and showcasing might and capabilities in areas of strategy, politics, and international relations.”

When the commander was asked whether the war game was a response to the recent activities of Americans in the region, he dismissed the claim and reassured that the Iranian navy acts according to its usual planning.

"When somebody is travelling from A to B, it is no problem, but when someone is posing threat and approaching our territorial waters, they will be warned and are not allowed in,” articulated the chief of Iran’s navy.
