Iran Develops Technology to Produce Atomic Batteries"A number of countries, including the US, Britain, France and Russia, have acquired the technology to develop nuclear batteries and fortunately, today Iran has also developed the technology like them after four years of day and night efforts," Salehi told reporters on Saturday.

He added that development of the atomic battery was a big step to help the Iranian scientists to send satellites into space as they (the satellites) need constant energy.

"We hope to be able to unveil the battery on April 9, 2018,” Salehi said.

The AEOI head also stated, "the battery has many uses, especially in the health sector. It can be implanted inside the human body and can be lifelong because it has a lifespan of 50 years.”

In relevant remarks last month, senior aide to the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Asqar Zare'an said that necessary tests have been conducted on the Iran-made atomic batteries which have been produced using nanotechnology, he said commercialization of the product is underway and the product will be produced at industrialized scale by the end of this Iranian year (to end on March 20).

Atomic battery (nuclear battery, tritium battery and radioisotope generator) are used to describe a device which uses energy from the decay of a radioactive isotope to generate electricity.

Like nuclear reactors, they generate electricity from atomic energy, but differ in that they do not use a chain reaction.
