"What Trump did was a nail in the coffin of the Zionist regime. No doubt this measure will accelerate the Zionist regime's collapse," Hajizadeh was quoted as saying by the Iranian media on Sunday.
He said that the Americans thought this measure can save them from the quagmire created by the Zionist regime for Washington, adding that it has instead sped up the regime's collapse.
In relevant remarks last Tuesday, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami blasted the recent decision by Trump to relocate Washington's embassy from Tel Aviv to al-Quds (Jerusalem), and said that Israel's destruction is imminent.
"Trump’s Jerusalem move will speed up Israel's destruction and unite Muslims," Brigadier General Hatami said.
He reiterated that last week’s decision by the US president to recognize al-Quds as the Israeli capital is bound to backfire and hastening the demise of Tel Aviv's regime.
"Should the conflict break out in the region, Washington will have to bear responsibility," the Iranian Defense Minister added.
Brigadier General Hatami said that Washington's anti-security decision which has drawn widespread condemnation from Muslim nations and the international community is ratcheting up tensions in the region.
"The occupying regime of Israel knows the illegitimate actions of the US government will bring no change to Al-Quds [Jerusalem] as the Palestinian people and the freedom-loving people of the world will become more determined than ever to become united and stand up for liberation of Jerusalem and the land of Palestine,” the Iranian defense minister said.
