FM Zarif condemns US destructive role in region

TEHRAN(Defapress)-“If there is any country to be held accountable for its destructive role in the region, that is the government of US,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at the joint presser with his Turkish and Russian counterparts.

The diplomat made the remarks on Saturday in Moscow where he joined Sergey Lavrov of Russia and Mevlut Chavusoglu of Turkey to discuss Syrian developments and Astana Peace Process.

“A process that we initiated 16 months ago in this building to alleviate the pains of the Syrian people and to achieve a political solution is bearing fruit now,” said the Iranian top diplomat.

“Our only aim with opening this process was to lessen the damages of war in Syria and to push Syrian government and opposition groups toward a path for reaching a peaceful resolution and this has been the only process able to restore serenity in Syria after 7 years of horrific war in the war torn country and the presence of Takfirist terrorists,”
