Kurdish Militias' Provocative Movements Threatening Battle with Syrian Army

The Russia-run Humeimim airbase in Syria's Lattakia said on Monday that the US-backed Kurdish militias have embarked on carrying out provocative measures that might end up in direct confrontation with the Syrian Army in Hasaka province.

Kurdish Militias' Provocative Movements Threatening Battle with Syrian ArmyTEHRAN (Defapress)- The spokesman for Humeimim airbase said that possibility of direct confrontation between the illegal group backed up by the US and the army forces is on rise following the Washington-backed militias' provocative measures in Hasaka.

Also, the Arabic-language al-Watan daily reported that the army has recently found a tunnel of the Kurdish militias near the Assyrian church between Tal Hajar and al-Masaken regions in Hasaka city that stretches towards the Communication Management Center that is under the army's control.

The daily further said that the Kurdish militias also embarked on fortifying their positions and digging more trenches in Central Hasaka and mainly in al-Jesrin checkpoint at the entrance of Qariwan neighborhood near the Assyrian church and Arezu kindergarten.

A field source, meantime, said that the Kurds have transferred excavation and construction machinery to al-Qahira street cinema in Central Hasaka and al-Kelasah neighborhood under the supervision of the US forces.

Al-Watan also reported on Sunday that the Washington-backed Kurdish militias embarked on reinvigorating their positions along contact lines with the army in Hasaka, digging more trenches and building more bunkers around their bases and centers in Hasaka city.

It further said that the army also put forces on alert in Hasaka.

The daily pointed to the possibly of direct confrontation between the army and the Kurds in Hasaka, saying tensions erupted after the US' new convoy of arms and ammunition was sent to the region via Simalka border-crossing.

Also, the daily further said that the ISIL terrorists withdrew from the villages of al-Dahou, al-Hasou and Hasoun Pasah in Hasaka Badiyeh (desert) to the benefit of the Kurds.
