Syrian Army Gaining More Ground in SouthTEHRAN (Defapress) – The Syrian soldiers have tightened the noose around positions of Daesh terrorists in ‘Al-Safa Hills’ region, located northeast of Sweida, and have inflicted heavy losses on the Takfiri militants, SANA reported Wednesday.

The Army has deployed more units to the battlefield in the mountainous area and has made advances in all directions in the offensive to retake Al-Safa Hills.

Syrian forces have launched several attacks on Takfiri militants in the area, killing many ranking commanders of Daesh and destroying their military equipment.

According to SANA, the Syrian troops have adopted special tactics for mountain warfare, considering the region’s rugged terrain and the hideout of terrorist in the caves.

Since June 19, the Syrian army has been conducting the operation in Daraa, which borders Jordan and the Israeli-occupied side of Syria’s Golan Heights.

Daraa city was the birthplace of the sedition that began in March 2011 before morphing into a foreign-backed militancy that continues to this day.
