Tehran, Moscow to Keep Up Anti-Terror Fight“Today, we examined key issues in the area of bilateral military-technical cooperation (between the two countries), which has reached a high level in the past few years,” Shoygu said after a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Brigadier General Amir Hatami in Moscow on Wednesday evening, according to the Tass news agency.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Brigadier General Hatami has traveled to the Russian capital at the official invitation of the Russian minister to attend the Eighth Moscow Conference on International Security.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has organized the annual conference in Moscow on April 23-25, 2019.

Pointing to Iran-Russia anti-terror cooperation, the Russian minister said, “Russia and Iran will continue their joint fight against international terrorism”.

He added that Russia and Iran’s close cooperation on the Syrian crisis within the framework of the Astana peace process has played a major role in implementing a ceasefire regime and normalizing the situation in the Arab country.

The Astana format – which has brought the parties to the Syria conflict to the negotiating table – has so far made numerous achievements both on the battlefield and the political stage.

The talks have helped significantly decrease the violence gripping Syria by creating de-escalation zones there. They have also paved the way for the formation of a constitutional committee.

Iran, Russia, and Turkey are known as three guarantor states of the ceasefire in Syria.
