UN special envoy to Damascus

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al Jazeera, news sources reported the arrival of the UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen to Damascus.

These sources stated: This is Pedersen's first trip after the fall of Damascus to terrorists.

This is while on Saturday, Pedersen stressed the importance of launching an inclusive political path in Syria and called for the preservation of institutions in the country.

Pedersen emphasized that government institutions in Syria must not collapse and humanitarian aid must enter the country as soon as possible.

The UN envoy to Syria had also emphasized the importance of launching a real political path that brings together all factions in Syria.

Pedersen's office had emphasized on Friday that Pedersen would go to Damascus as soon as possible to consult with all parties.
