TEHRAN (Defapress) - A senior source within Hamas leadership, in an interview with Al Jazeera, confirmed that the movement has informed mediators that Arbel Yehud, the female Israeli captive held by Palestinian resistance forces, is alive.
The source added that Hamas has announced that Yehud will be released next Saturday.
The Israeli Prime Minister's office had previously claimed that the return of Palestinian displaced persons to the northern areas is contingent on the release of this Israeli captive.
A responsible source within the Islamic Jihad movement also emphasized that the release of this Israeli captive is being carried out within the framework of the ceasefire agreement. Yehud is held by the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, as she is a military trainee in the aerospace program of the Israeli regime.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Hamas accused the Israeli regime of obstructing the implementation of the ceasefire agreement by keeping Al-Rashid Street in Gaza closed and preventing the return of Palestinian displaced persons to the northern areas.
