TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al Jazeera, the Hamas movement issued a statement welcoming the new efforts of Qatar and Egypt to mediate and achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.
The statement issued by the movement states: We are ready to immediately enter into a new round of indirect negotiations to reach an agreement for a permanent ceasefire and the complete withdrawal of the occupying forces.
Qatar and Egypt also emphasized in a joint statement that, in coordination with the United States, they intend to intensify their efforts to remove obstacles to the negotiations.
The 2 countries also announced that their goal is to quickly reach a temporary 60-day ceasefire that can pave the way for a permanent ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
These statements come as the humanitarian situation in Gaza is critical and international pressure is mounting to stop the war and open the way for humanitarian aid.
Hamas insists that any agreement with the Zionist enemy must lead to a permanent end to the war in Gaza. However, Netanyahu's extremist cabinet says it is only willing to make a temporary agreement and release Zionist prisoners from Hamas, and will resume the war in Gaza after these prisoners are released.
