First Round of Talks Between Hamas and Mediators Ends

TEHRAN (Defapress) - Al Jazeera reported, citing its sources, that the first round of talks between representatives of the Hamas movement and the mediator countries (Egypt and Qatar) in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh had ended.

According to the report, the talks were held in a positive atmosphere despite the ongoing clashes.

Sources familiar with the matter told Al Jazeera that the meeting, which was attended by the Hamas delegation, had a positive atmosphere.

According to reports, the meeting outlined the roadmap and mechanisms for the current round of talks.

The Hamas delegation emphasized to the mediators that the continued bombing of Gaza poses a serious challenge to the release of prisoners.

Al Jazeera sources revealed that two members of the Hamas delegation who survived the assassination attempt in Doha, namely Khalil Al-Hayyah and Zaher Jabarin, were present in the delegation in Sharm El-Sheikh.

It is worth noting that indirect negotiations between Hamas and the Israeli regime began yesterday evening in Sharm El-Sheikh to discuss Trump's plan for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

According to the report, the aim of the indirect meeting between the Palestinian and Israeli delegations in Sharm El-Sheikh is to discuss mechanisms for preparing the initial conditions for a prisoner exchange agreement.

Israeli media had previously announced that the regime's Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, would also be present at the Sharm El-Sheikh talks, but Netanyahu's office announced that the talks would be held at a normal level and that senior officials would then join them if progress was made.

In other news, the American television network CNN reported, citing some officials in the country, that the details and timetable for the Israeli regime's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip according to Trump's plan have not yet been agreed upon.
