Condemnation of Israeli Attack on Peacekeepers in Lebanon

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al Jazeera, Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, described Sunday's attack by the Israeli regime on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon as very dangerous.

Dujarric said: "This is not the first time that we have been targeted by the Israeli army in various ways, such as laser targeting or warning shots."

The French Foreign Ministry also condemned the attack on UNIFIL forces in a statement, noting that these incidents followed several similar incidents on October 1, 2, and 11.

UNIFIL announced on Sunday that an Israeli drone had flown "aggressively" over its patrol and that the peacekeepers had taken the necessary defensive measures to neutralize the drone.

The European Union also condemned the Israeli attack on UN peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon in a statement.

The statement said: "The safety and security of UN personnel and facilities must be guaranteed in accordance with international law and Security Council Resolution 1701."

Reports indicate that Israel continues to occupy 5 military positions in southern Lebanon and, despite the ceasefire, carries out almost daily air and artillery attacks. On Monday, 2 brothers were martyred in an attack by the occupying regime on the village of Al-Bayyad in the Tyre region.
