TEHRAN (Defapres) - Axios reported on Tuesday morning that the US has submitted a draft resolution to the UN Security Council to establish an international force in Gaza.

This media wrote, based on a document it has seen, that “the draft would give Washington and participating countries broad authority to govern Gaza and provide security until the end of 2027.”
The report states: “The draft resolution proposed by the US calls for the Gaza Peace Council to remain in place at least until the end of 2027. The draft will also form the basis for negotiations between Security Council members in the coming days.”
The publication explained, based on the American document: “This international force will be responsible for securing Gaza’s borders with Israel and Egypt, protecting civilians and ensuring the security of humanitarian crossings.”
The report continues: “This international force will be an enforcement force, not a peacekeeping force, that will help stabilize the security environment in Gaza by ensuring the disarmament of the Gaza Strip.”
In the draft US resolution, the force’s tasks, in addition to disarming, destroying, and preventing the reconstruction of military infrastructure, include training a Palestinian police force that will cooperate with it in its mission.
Axios continued: “Israeli security forces will take on other tasks that may be necessary to support the Gaza agreement.”
A US official also told the website: “Our goal is to vote on the formation of this force in the coming weeks and deploy the first forces in Gaza by January.”
He added: "This force will include soldiers from several countries and will be established in consultation with the Gaza Peace Council."
