In their interviews with Funke Mediengruppe, Germany’s third largest newspaper and magazine publisher headquartered in Essen, the heads of the factions of different parties of the German federal parliament (the Bundestag) have all acknowledged that a lack of self-confidence in foreign policy towards the US is the biggest obstacle to Berlin’s entry into the club of the world’s major powers.
