Araqchi and the new head of the UN’s atomic watchdog, Rafael Mariano Grossi, met in Vienna on Friday after a session of the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Speaking to reporters, Araqchi said his talks with Grossi were fruitful. “It was a good meeting for the beginning.”
“The agency’s new director general emphasized that the previous status of cooperation between the international institution (IAEA) and Iran should be maintained. In the meeting, a series of issues and solutions were discussed,” Araqchi added.
In the gathering, the Argentine head of the UN nuclear agency reportedly also stressed the need for Iran to cooperate, fully and timely, over the safeguards issues.
Grossi also unveiled plans for a visit to Iran in the near future.
