TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al-Manar, the second phase of municipal and city council elections in Lebanon has begun in Akkar and the country’s northern province.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun emphasized a few minutes ago during the opening of the elections in these provinces that Lebanese citizens should vote for ideas, not individuals.
He added: “The holding of these elections in Lebanon shows that our country is moving in the right direction.”
The recent elections in Lebanon were multi-phased and are of great importance because they were held after a long hiatus and the developments of the past year in the shadow of the Gaza-Lebanon war. The opposition movement and the Shiite dualism in Lebanon interpreted recent events, especially the martyrdom of Hezbollah leaders and commanders, as weakening this movement and disapproval of it; while the Resistance movement was well received in the first phase of the aforementioned elections.
