TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to the Shahab News Agency, following claims by Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to make gains after Hamas released Edan Alexander yesterday, Hamas announced that the release of Edan Alexander was the result of diplomacy and mediation, not military pressure.

The Hamas statement said: The release of Edan Alexander, an Israeli-American prisoner, was the result of serious contacts with the US government and the efforts of mediators, and has nothing to do with the Zionist regime's military aggression or the illusion of military pressure.

The statement said: Netanyahu is deceiving the Israelis with false claims. He could not return the prisoners through war. Alexander's release proves that the only way to free the prisoners and stop the war is through serious negotiations and an agreement to exchange prisoners.
