TEHRAN (Defapress) - As more than a year and a half of the Gaza war passes, the Zionist regime’s security cabinet has approved a new military operation in the Gaza Strip titled "Gideon’s Chariots" by a majority vote. The operation plans for the complete defeat of the Hamas movement, the destruction of Hamas’ military infrastructure, and the forced displacement of Gaza’s population.
Accordingly, yesterday, the Maan News Agency reported, citing the Zionist regime’s army, that the Israeli army has begun occupying parts of the Gaza Strip as part of its large-scale military operation. According to the Israeli army’s announcement, the initial stages of this operation began on Friday, May 16, with intense attacks on various areas of the Gaza Strip.
However, the Zionist regime’s new military operation in Gaza has other underlying objectives, including the release of Israeli captives and, most importantly, the long-term occupation of the Gaza Strip. In reality, it must be said that by occupying Gaza, the Zionist regime is pursuing one of its primary objectives since the start of the Gaza war over the past year and a half, namely, the forced displacement of Gaza’s population to the southern regions of the enclave.
Of course, the leaders and officials of the Zionist regime had previously stated that if no agreement was reached with Hamas by May 15, they would begin their own operation for the complete and indefinite occupation of the Gaza Strip. Accordingly, Zionist military commanders announced that as part of this new operation, they intend to relocate Gaza’s population to a so-called "humanitarian zone" to pave the way for the indefinite occupation of the Gaza Strip.
As reports and received information indicate, the first phase of the Zionist regime’s military operation in Gaza involves the bombing and destruction of all vital infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. The "Israeli" army intends, in this phase of its operation, to demolish all remaining residential buildings and structures in Gaza. Subsequently, the Zionist regime will seek to resettle Gaza’s population in the city of Rafah.
The second phase of the Zionist regime’s military operation in Gaza is dedicated to the mass evacuation of Gaza’s population. The Zionist regime plans, in this phase, to relocate all Palestinians from the northern and central regions of Gaza to the city of Rafah. Accordingly, the goal of this move by the Israeli army can be seen as significantly increasing pressure on Hamas to stop the war and forcibly displace Gaza’s population outside the enclave.
However, the most critical aspect is the third and final phase of the Zionist regime’s operation in Gaza. The Zionist army is making intense efforts, through large-scale ground operations and the occupation of various areas in Gaza, to create the necessary conditions for the full deployment of Israeli forces. In reality, the Zionist regime intends to render the Gaza Strip uninhabitable for Palestinians.
Of course, the Zionist regime’s expansionist ambitions are not limited to the Gaza Strip, as it also seeks to occupy the West Bank. In this regard, Yitzchak Goldknopf, the Zionist regime’s settlement minister, in remarks addressing Benjamin Netanyahu, the regime’s prime minister, called for the settlement of one million Zionists in the West Bank, stating that they must take advantage of the current situation and expand settlements in the West Bank.
In truth, we must say that all the actions and measures taken by the Zionist regime to this day have clearly demonstrated that this regime has no regard for international law and, in pursuit of its own interests and occupation policies, seeks to expand settlements in Palestinian territories and seize more of their land.
Finally, the expansionist and occupationist policies of the Zionist regime are taking on newer and broader dimensions daily, despite the fact that, according to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 (2016), settlement construction by the Zionist regime in Palestinian territories is a clear violation of international law.
