6 ISIL militants killed in armed clashes in Syria’s Raqqa

According to reports, the armed clashes erupted between the ISIL terrorist group’s Chechen and Uzbek members on the one side and the Arabs on the other.

The clashes broke out over a residential unit facing the Euphrates River in the militant-held city of Raqqa, local activists have been quoted as saying.

The two factions were trying to take control of the house for about a week.

The infighting highlights the growing ethnic divisions in the ISIL terrorist group.

Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies -- namely Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Zeid al-Hussein has said that more than 200,000 people have died in the Syrian conflict since March 2011.
