Putting N-deal’s fate on Congress Trump’s way of ‘escaping forward’ Head of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said Saturday that by putting the onus on Congress to decide for the fate of Iran’s nuclear deal, US President Trump is in fact ‘escaping forward’ – which indicates his desperate last resort on leveling further attacks on Iran.

"If the US cancels the nuclear deal, this equals to ‘ripping it up’, in which case Iran will have no other choice but to ‘set fire’ to the agreement,” Boroujerdi said, stressing that the US Congress is now facing a critical historic test in terms of its final decision on the fate of the nuclear deal.

"Today, Iran is far more advanced in nuclear technology than it used to be before the signing of the nuclear deal,” Boroujerdi said. "If it is decided that Iran should go back to advancing its peaceful nuclear program without the deal's limitations, it will do so with a quicker pace.”

Boroujerdi went on to add, "the Islamic Republic of Iran is the only country that is fully averse to the development of nuclear weapons, yet this fact does not interest the US at all. They need the policies of North Korea instead, which are of such a great challenge to them.”

Boroujerdi further highlighted Iran’s fight against terrorism, adding "accusing Iran of creating instability in the region is merely a cheap diversion tactic; the world knows the main culprit behind the creation of terrorism is the Americans themselves.”
