Iran Ready to Help Tanzania in Energy IndustryIran is prepared to provide Tanzania with its expertise in the fields of energy and mining, President Hassan Rouhani said in a meeting with the African country’s new ambassador to Tehran on Saturday.

Hailing Tanzania as an "important gateway” to East Africa, the president said given Iran’s position and capabilities, closer ties between Tehran and Dodoma would be of "regional significance.”

The new accredited envoy, Mubarak Nasser Mubarak, for his part, expressed Tanzania’s willingness to strengthen political and economic relations with Iran.

Praising Iran’s scientific and technical progress, particularly in the energy industry, the ambassador said his country hopes to take advantage of the Islamic Republic’s experience in various fields.

Earlier this month, Tanzania’s Foreign Minister Augustine Mahiga paid a visit to Tehran and met with senior Iranian officials.

In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Mahiga hailed Iran’s achievements in the fields of politics, economy, science, and culture, calling for enhanced ties between the two nations.

President Rouhani, who won a second term back in May, has repeatedly stressed his government's interest in boosting relations with African states.
