Iran, Pakistan Weigh Plans to Expand Military Ties

Iran, Pakistan Weigh Plans to Expand Military TiesRear Admiral Sayyari, who has travelled to Karachi to attend the 10th International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS 2018) of Pakistan, held separate meetings with top Pakistani commanders.

In a meeting with Chairman of Pakistan's Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, the two officials called for closer cooperation between the neighbors in manufacturing arms and other military activities.

The Iranian admiral also held talks with Chief of Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force Mujahid Anwar Khan about close interaction between the air forces of the two countries through the exchange of cadets and cooperation in technical fields.

Sayyari had also met with other ranking Pakistani Army commanders to discuss joint action against threats to the security of common ground and sea borders.

Heading a ranking Iranian military delegation, Rear Admiral Sayyari took part in the opening of the four-day IDEAS exhibition on Tuesday.

According to Iran’s Army, the admiral has travelled to Pakistan as part of Tehran’s efforts to boost defense diplomacy and relations with the friend countries and with the aim of learning about Pakistan’s defense capacities and its aerial, naval and ground equipment put on display in the IDEAS 2018, holding bilateral and multilateral meetings with commanders and military officials from Pakistan and other countries partaking in the event, and learning about the latest developments and modern achievements presented at the exhibition.
