TEHRAN (Defapress) - During the initial phase of an emergency vaccination initiative conducted from September 1 to September 12, 2024, approximately 560,000 children under the age of ten received the polio vaccine in the Gaza Strip.
WHO announced that this 12-day campaign successfully administered the novel oral polio vaccine type 2 (nOPV2) to a total of 558,963 children, a feat achieved through careful planning and coordination. The operation utilized a comprehensive network of teams that provided vaccinations at designated health facilities and outreach locations.
Additionally WHO added that mobile and transit teams were deployed to assist families residing in shelters, tents, and displacement camps, while community workers connected with families to enhance awareness before and during the campaign.
